Smita Sapkota

Smita Sapkota is a microbiologist with interest in medical and public health microbiology and experience in clinical research and laboratory practice. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Tribhuvan University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Microbiology at St. Xavier’s College, Tribhuvan University. Her research experience includes undergraduate research conducted at Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus in collaboration with Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital, Kathmandu. Her project focused on the isolation and identification of microorganisms from high vaginal swabs of pregnant women, involving the analysis of a large clinical dataset and interpretation of microbial diversity, resistance patterns, and public health implications. She has co authored a peer reviewed publication arising from this work. Smita has also completed a clinical and laboratory internship at Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital, where she gained exposure to diagnostic workflows, laboratory quality systems, biosafety practices, and ethical handling of clinical samples. Her skill set includes scientific writing, data interpretation, literature review, and structured laboratory documentation.
