Dr. Tista Prasai Joshi is a senior scientist at the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) for the last 20 years. She received a M.Sc. degree in Environmental Microbiology and an M.A. degree in Anthropology from Tribhuvan University, and a Ph. D. degree in Environmental Engineering in 2017 from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) with the UCAS Excellent International Student award.
Dr. Tista’s research contributions have appeared in many leading professional and multidisciplinary journals including Water Research, Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Science of the Total Environment, Environment Pollution, Chemosphere etc. Over 60 original research articles are credited to her contribution along with 1530 citations.
She has delivered over a dozen of invited talks in conferences / seminars. Dr. Tista mentors research students of doctoral, masters and undergraduate level with research facilities in NAST. She has supervised nearly four dozen Bachelors and Masters’ and doctoral degree students from multiple disciplines including Microbiology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Zoology and Biotechnology. She is also serving as a member of editorial board and reviewer in several national and international journals.
She has been awarded the OWSD-Elsevier Foundation award in Biological Sciences representing the Asia Pacific region in 2019 and UNESCO-OWSD early career fellowship in 2019. She was nominated as one of the 50 visionaries of Nepal and was saluted with a medal. She was best performing employee of NAST in 2018 and 2021. Dr. Tista has been decorated with Nepal Vidya Bhusan “Ka” by the honorable President of Nepal in 2017. Dr. Tista’s scientific contribution has been featured in several international forum and media including Elsevier foundation, OWSD vision project, Chinese academy of Science (CAS-Newsletter) and so on.
