Anjali Rawal

Anjali Rawal is a dedicated microbiologist with a strong academic foundation from St. Xavier’s College, Kathmandu, where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with distinction. Passionate about infectious disease research and antimicrobial resistance, she has actively explored alternatives to combat bacterial pathogens through her work on bacteriophage therapy and medicinal plant-based antimicrobials. Her thesis research focused on evaluating the efficacy of bacteriophages against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, while her mini-thesis as part of the Father Locke and Stiller Research Award (LSRA) examined the phytochemical properties and antimicrobial activity of medicinal plants. Her contributions to microbiological research have been recognized through multiple accolades, including the Fr. Bertrand Saubolle, S.J., Memorial Award for excellence in art, culture, and academic achievement and 2nd place in an oral presentation at the LSRA Journal Club. Anjali has gained valuable laboratory experience through her internship at the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), where she honed her skills in PCR, ELISA, bacterial culturing, microscopy, and electrophoresis. Beyond research, she has actively engaged in science communication, leadership training, and rural health awareness programs, aspiring to bridge healthcare gaps and contribute to global health advancements.
