
Dr. Monika Oli is an instructional professor, researcher, and educational innovator dedicated to advancing global microbial literacy and making microbiology accessible to all. Monika’s work focuses on reimagining microbiology education by integrating cutting-edge technologies, including AI applications, diagnostic mass spectrometry, and clinical simulation software. She has pioneered and developed high-quality, free digital laboratory resources, enabling thousands of students each year to pursue STEM education without the burden of costly manuals.
With over a decade of experience leading international study abroad programs such as “Medicine, Microbiology and Health,” Monika emphasizes the vital global connection between microbes, public health, and global well-being. Her commitment to teaching excellence has been recognized with numerous honors, including being named the University of Florida Teacher of the Year and Mentor/Advisor of the Year and receiving the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Educator Award.
Monika holds a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship from the University of Florida. Before her academic career, she held leadership roles in the biotechnology industry, where she co-invented several diagnostic biomarker patents.
In her non-teaching time, Monika is a passionate photographer and traveler who enjoys hiking, biking, fermented foods, and exploring microbes and nature wherever she travels.
