Dr. Christian Keller is an attending physician, laboratory head, and immunology researcher at the Institute of Virology at Marburg University Hospital, Germany, since 2015. He completed his medical studies at Würzburg University Medical School and received his residency training as a clinical medical microbiologist and virologist at the Bernhard Nocht Institute of Tropical Medicine and University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE).
His scientific interests are immunoregulation and host-pathogen interactions in Orientia tsutsugamushi infection, as well as biomarkers in viral infections and antiviral immunity. Christian Keller completed his habilitation at Philipps University Marburg in 2018. In 2020, he was awarded the Memento Research Award for neglected diseases.
His works have been published in journals like Nature Microbiology, Lancet Infectious Diseases, and Frontiers in Immunology. Christian Keller is an experienced academic supervisor on the Bachelor, Master, and PhD levels and a passionate teacher of immunology, microbiology, and virology for students of medicine and human biology.
